Postgraduate Professional Development

The Learning Institute's Postgraduate Professional Development programme is run in association with the TDA and is open to those with Qualified Teacher Status. The Postgraduate Professional Development course allows teachers to complete an accredited Masters-level module, worth 60 credits and gain a certificate in education.

Have you ever wanted to complete a Masters but found the idea a little daunting? The Learning Institute's Postgraduate Professional Development programme is designed to remove the fear that often surrounds studying at M level by allowing you to undertake a small-scale action research module, working alongside your colleagues. The Learning Institute's Postgraduate Professional Development programme offers trainees the chance to gain their Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCert) which equates to 60 credits - or one-third of a Masters - so by enrolling you are already well on your way to getting a Masters!



The PPD programme is open to groups of qualified teachers.


Face to face coaching sessions are delivered on-site, covering the following:


• Introduction and overview


• Collaborative inquiry and methodology


• Refining inquiry questions


• Ethics


• Interacting with literature


• Data collection and analysis


• Presenting findings

You will embark on an inquiry into a personally chosen topic within a group context so not only will you be furthering your knowledge, you will also be aiding your colleagues' and your wider organisation's awareness of the chosen subject. Completion is by a written assignment of between 8,000-10,000 words or there is the possibility of combining a shorter assignment (4,000 words) with a presentation. The accrediting bodies are the University of Exeter in the South West and the Institute of Education in London.

The good news is the Postgraduate Professional Development programme is fully funded; therefore there are usually no fees for this particular programme.
