Teaching & Learning Foundation Degree Course
Year One
Introduction to study skills
This module will provide the support you need in beginning an
academic programme at this level.
Reflecting Journal
This will help you chart your learning over the whole Year One programme. It will focus on three areas: personal, professional and academic development.
Ensuring the well-being of children and young people
This provides an introduction to national policy and initiatives. It investigates current and future roles for those working to promote children’s well-being and explores the local and national policy context for safeguarding.
Introduction to the development of children and young people (0 – 19 years)
This is an introduction to the development of children and young people that will give an initial insight into how children think, learn, respond and interact at different times in their lives.
Work based project
This double module builds on work-based tasks set in other modules to provide an opportunity for you to focus on a topic of your own choice.
Year Two
Reflective Journal
This will help you target development needs and recognise and develop themes across the course. It will help you plan for career progression including support for entry into a specific BA programme.
Meeting the individual needs of children and young people with specific learning difficulties
This examines how the needs of pupils with specific learning difficulties can be planned for within the wider context of social inclusion.
Behaviour for Learning
This explores the ways of promoting positive behaviour in children. It enables the development of further professional expertise in managing challenging behaviour.
Planning, assessing and evaluating learning
This examines the process of planning lessons that meet individual needs and build good learning behaviours.
Choice of phase specific modules
Teaching and Learning in early years or primary or secondary phase.
Work-based independent study
This double module continues the integration of academic and work based learning, and provides you with an opportunity to focus on a topic of your own choice.
